The Iowa Conservation and Preservation Consortium, Iowa Museum Association, State Historical Society of Iowa, and the State Library are collaborating to develop a statwide plan to help the stewards of cultural property plan for protection and disaster recovery of collections.

A survey of institutional emergency preparedness and knowledge of recovery resources is underway. Once surveyed, institutions of cultural repositories throughout the state will be geocoded. This will provide these locations to emergency management agencies on a state and local level.

Workshops and a conference on disaster preparedness and response for cultural collections will be presented statewide. If you have not completed the survey for your institution, please do so today!
