Cedar Rapids landmark on road to recovery from 2008 flooding

On Thursday, September 9, 2010, plans for the $33 Million restoration of the Paramount Theatre in Cedar Rapids were previewed. The 1928 historic building will be restored to its former grandeur and updated to accommodate modern theater performances. Updates include changes to the seating arrangement, and a larger orchestra pit, stage, and backstage areas. Construction will begin next spring, will conclude in 2010, and will be financed by $5 million in I-JOBS funding, $21 million from FEMA, and $7 million from state and federal historical tax credits.
