Preservation gets nod on NPR

On Wednesday, November 17, NPR’s Marketplace featured a story on the Darling House in Claremont, California, which is undergoing a “green” renovation. Although most preservationists realize the greenest building is the one already built, the story brought the message to the masses. It also featured the National Trust’s Emily Wadhams expressing concern about US Green Building Council’s LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) rating system, which provides a very small percentage of points for reusing existing buildings. Read or listen to the story online and be sure to click the link to see a slideshow of the Darling House and learn more about that project!
