Preservation Action: Advocacy Update

Preservation Action is a 501(c)4 nonprofit organization created in 1974 to serve as the national grassroots lobby for historic preservationPreservation Action seeks to make historic preservation a national priority by advocating to all branches of the federal government for sound preservation policy and programs through a grassroots constituency empowered with information and training and through direct contact with elected representatives. Preservation Iowa is a member of Preservation Action’s State and Local Preservation Network and participates in their monthly conference calls.

Congressional Candidate Survey: Between July-September, PreservationAction’s 2018 Survey was sent (via email) to the U.S House and Senate candidates in every state. Preservation Action surveyed Congressional candidates for the 2018 Midterm election to keep Americans informed on where their candidates for office stand on the National Historic Preservation Program. Preservation Action received responses from nearly 150 congressional candidates, representing 37 states and the District of Columbia. The results show historic preservation is a bipartisan issue and recognized as an important federal policy initiative by candidates from across the country.
