Half a business block of historic commercial buildings was damaged by a blaze last Tuesday night (December 8, 2009) in Paullina, Iowa. Crews from 15 fire departments responded to help fight the fire in frigid temperatures. According to the Mayor, Marlo Ebel, one of the buildings was likely one of the first banks in the small town, which is located in O’Brien County and known as “The Gem of the Prairie.” The cause of the fire is not yet known.
