Doug Jones will giving the “Radical Thoughts in the Tallgrass Prairies: Equal Rights for All” presentation. This presentation will be about individuals who were or may have been Underground Railroad (UGRR) conductors or station agents and who were also equal rights advocates. This will be an expanded presentation from a presentation on this subject at the National Network to Freedom meeting at Topeka, Kansas in 2010. Doug will be discussing at least five people in depth: (Isaac Brandt of Des Moines, Edmund Booth of Anamosa, Ann Coppoc Raley of Springdale, Edward Russell of Davenport, and Alexander Clark, Sr. of Muscatine). Doug will also be discussing John Brown and perhaps William Penn Clarke of Iowa City. This event is free to the public.
